Right now. She knew this was it. Never again would she have so many opportunities at her disposal.
Her mom was at the end of the phone. A comforting chat, and obnoxious argument…endless possibilities that in one year’s time would not be an option.
Her children were all on one cusp or another, all about to step over some line. She knew she should make the most of every second.
Instead she felt frozen. Maybe if she just remained stagnant everyone else would too. She had missed so many other milestones and opportunities…she couldn’t bear to miss another, and so she sat. She sat with her hands over her eyes, watching and waiting, expecting the next train wreck. She knew she should just enjoy the ride, but she also knew what was at the end of the line.
